Estimator toggle search pane / pnl pane

Currently the search pane in column view is linked to the pnl pane of detail view. i would like the pnl pane to be open while the search pane to be closed when switching between detail and column view. search pane should be collapsed by default as you dont use it once estimates are loaded, maye its should be auto hidden like the windows taskbar. search pane doesnt need to be so wide either in order to be able to see more estimates side by side

Maybe if the Estimate Search Pane was more of a 'Estimate - List' like the lists in the other modules it would solve this problem?
