Difference in Estimate and Actual PnL bunker price calculation when there are multiple bunker stems

21 votes

When scheduling a voyage there is a difference in between the calculation method of the bunker prices in the PnL estimate and actual when there are 2 or more bunker stems in the inventory upon estimating / scheduling.
In the estimate, IMOS takes a weighted average of the bunker prices of the different stems as per the whole inventory, even when not all bunkers are set to be consumed in that specific voyage.
In the bunker inventory this is seen at the first block of rows in 'open inventory'

However, in the Actual the bunker prices in the PnL the calculation is made basis what the vessel is actually set to consume, also basis FIFO.
In the bunker inventory this is seen at the second block of rows in 'open inventory'.

This becomes an issue when the vessel is scheduled to end the voyage with still bunker ROB. Meaning the weighted average calculation is different in the estimate and the actual.

In the PnL, the estimated bunker costs should be basis the same calculation method.
